Account Guidelines

As the population of online internet gaming increases, so, do issues regarding stolen or compromised accounts and/or accounts that have been transferred from one player to another, which is in violation of the User Agreement. These issues (and the time that it takes to investigate and attempt to resolve them) hugely detract from the time that SWG: Vision of Hope, Customer Support Staff have in order to provide quality customer service.

Accordingly, SWG: Vision of Hope, must remind all players, that:

Account Security (whether it be password protection, running virus checks, disabling file sharing, or any other element of making sure accounts are not stolen or compromised) remains the responsibility of the account owner.

Any and all stolen and/or compromised accounts that are reported to SWG: Vision of Hope Staff, can and will be suspended in order to conduct a very thorough, security investigation. If characters on the account are maliciously deleted, a member of CSR Staff, after consulting with Database Administration Staff, may or may not offer a character restoration. Any experience points that are lost due to the restoration process, will not be reimbursed.

Any player found to be involved in an account theft, in any way, shape or form, may have any and all of his or her account(s), terminated. Prior to taking any action against accounts, that have been reported as compromised, we will conduct a thorough review of the accounts in question, then an appropriate course of action will be determined, and enforced. Account will only face disciplinary action, based on the collection of factual information or evidence, that is determined to be actionable, which will be gathered, during the course of the investigation. Any action taken, will not be as the result of external allegation.

Multiple Accounts are NOT ALLOWED. You may only have one (1) account, per person, per household. Additional accounts that are created, without authorization, will be terminated, with the original account, receiving an infraction for having an unauthorized, multiple account. Exceptions to this guideline can be made, should you have a multi-person, household, wishing to play on the servers of SWG: Vision of Hope. For more information, please review our Multiple Account Policies.

Multiple Account Authorizations can and will be revoked, for any account that fails to maintain, good standing, status.

You may not share accounts on SWG: Vision of Hope. An account is granted to you, for only, you. It is considered account sharing, if you log into an account, that is not your own, even with the authorization of the account owner. Shared accounts will only be infracted if an issue arises, such as account theft. If such issue arises, both accounts will be infracted for account sharing.

Ban evasion by the creation of multiple accounts is not permitted. Doing so, will result in the additional account being terminated, and the original suspension term lengthened, leading up to and including, account termination.

Code of Conduct

Overview

SWG: Vision of Hope is more than a collection of players. It is more than a social tab on your text window. SWG: Vision of Hope is committed to organizing players and providing opportunities to improve individual gaming and server community experiences.

This relies on two things: Cooperation and Respect.
We can’t work to achieve these goals with infighting and feuding with players, guilds, groups, etc.
This Code of Conduct relies on several points, which will be discussing in more details below:

• Respect one another…
• Respect all players, regardless of guild or faction…
• Respect of all Social Media Platforms…
• Refrain from conduct or chat that brings real life into SWG: Vision of Hope, in a negative way...
• Uphold this Code of Conduct at all times…

Seems simple enough, however, there is plenty of room for interpretation and situations that will challenge your understanding and interpretation of the Code.

Respecting One Another

The success of your fellow players, represent your success as a member of the SWG: Vision of Hope Community.
If you are insulting your fellow players in any way, shape or form, regardless of his or her offenses, you are breaking the Code of Conduct. It is the job and duty of the Staff of SWG: Vision of Hope to judge player offenses, not the players. By treating everyone with respect and allowing the staff to deal with the problems, you are helping to maintain order and strength, which is necessary to achieve our goals.

RESPECT ALL PLAYERS, REGARDLESS OF GUILD OR FACTION

Whether a rival ally, or an opponent you detest, regardless of insults or offenses… SWG: Vision of Hope Players will refrain from negative actions towards them. It does no good to squabble over meaningless comments. By responding in anyway, we validate that those comments have affected us, and in that we allow them to become truths to a certain degree. We are above any offenses and will not allow the negativity of others to derail the plans we have, or what we have already accomplished. This is also important because the individual players in these situations, affect our community as a whole. Others perception of our community is important as it allows us to grow in a positive way.
For example, think of players that exploit or trash talk, would you want to be part of that? Would new players? Would you want someone thinking that you are a cheater or trash talker?

RESPECTING SWG: VISION OF HOPE, SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS

When interacting with other players or members of staff, across any of the SWG: Vision of Hope Official; Social Media Platforms, please behave in a manner, that is acceptable, taking into consideration the rest of this, Code of Conduct. If a player is abusive towards you, on any SWG: Vision of Hope Social Media, please report this behavior to the CSR Staff.

REFRAIN FROM CONTACT

When you login, please leave any personal issues, resentments, or hang-ups out of the game. If someone insults you, pertaining to these issues, do not partake in the exchange. We want to create an environment where players, both young and old, from all around the world, all walks of life, can come together and enjoy themselves in the Star Wars Universe. If everyone in our community had approached the game with this attitude, we would play in a much, more enjoyable, welcoming, and creative game. We ask all SWG: Vision of Hope Players to champion this vision and help to create that world.

UPHOLDING THE CODE

Together, we can accomplish anything we want, and enjoy that mission, every step of the way. A bad day is no reason to hurt the reputation of a fellow player, or the community, as a result, there is never a good reason to break this Code of Conduct, and no defense will satisfy the SWG: Vision of Hope Staff. In being a member of this community, you take up a responsibility, to all of your fellow players. Only when you are upholding this Code of Conduct, can you know that others are doing the same. If you are slacking, then it’s a good bet, others are as well.
When meeting new players, or others outside of your group or guild that you run with, with the Code of Conduct in mind, we not only give them a good impression of our community, but we also create an opportunity for our conduct to “rub off” on them, and through this, we can affect the attitudes of the entire community.

CONCLUSION

Any questionable conversations, simply hit the printscreen button and save a copy of it, using avenues like imgur.com. Walk away from insulting players or difficult situations, if you believe that you might lose your cool. You can take away your enemies power, by simply ignoring them, or leaving them, altogether. Contact any member of the CSR Staff about any and all questions or problems. You are judged by your actions, which can affect your future at SWG: Vision of Hope. If you can’t handle something, please seek out our help.
The Code of Conduct does not limit your gaming experience. If trash talking, insulting and attacking others is your thing, then, I’m sure that there are others servers for you to join. This Code of Conduct is not based on arrogance, nor are we trying to be better than others. It is based on mutual respect. We are trying to be better than the poor conduct, all to prevalent in our collective, gaming experience.

Harassment is defined as specifically targeting another player or group of other players to harm or inconvenience them. Harassment can take many forms, as it goes to the state-of-mind of the person or group of persons, on the receiving end, of the action. However, in order to account for those who are more sensitive than others, the CSR Staff will make a determination as to whether or not the reported issue, would be considered harassment, then act accordingly.
Sexual Harassment, Racial Harassment, or Hate Mongering of any kind, will result in disciplinary action being taken against player accounts, which may or may not lead up to and including: Official Warnings, Account Suspensions or Account Termination, depending on the severity of the incident, and at the discretion of CSR Staff.

4) You may not defraud other players.

Fraud is defined as falsely representing one’s intentions to make a gain at another’s expense. Examples of this activity include, but are not limited to, offering to craft a weapon with a built-in powerbit for another player, and then keeping the weapon and/or credits, as well as using flaws in a secure trade window to deprive someone of one or more of their items or credits. Other examples include selling disabled vehicles, renaming items and selling them as a different item, or violating any trade agreement (such as agreeing to craft an item for resources, but keeping the resources/item themselves instead). These examples are not all inclusive, other violations will be reviewed and thoroughly investigated by CSR Staff.
Defrauding other players will result in the removal of earnings or equivalent goods from the account, and may result in disciplinary action being taken against player accounts, which may or may not lead up to and including: Official Warnings, Account Suspensions or Account Termination, depending on the severity of the incident, and at the discretion of CSR Staff.

5) You may not operate a Player Association (Guild) that habitually violates these rules.

Disciplinary issues involving Player Associations will also be addressed on a broader basis. Player Associations, whose members, habitually violate any of the Terms of Services, Rules of Conduct, or Community Policies, may be disbanded, with or without warning. In addition, monopolizing numerous spawn areas, with the intent to exclude other players will not be permitted. If investigated and verified by CSR Staff, monopolizing may result in the disbanding of a Player Association. The intentional training of NPC’s or Creatures will result in disciplinary action being taken against player accounts, which may or may not lead up to and including: Official Warnings, Account Suspensions or Account Termination, depending on the severity of the incident, and at the discretion of CSR Staff.

7) You may not abuse players, CSR Staff, or the Tools provided to request support.

8) The act of being Away From Keyboard (AFK) across the entirety of SWG: Vision of Hope is prohibited in areas that involve a quest or quest line, i.e. Legacy or anywhere else that is part of a quest or series of quests. Any player farming an area that is part of a quest or series of quests, must give way to players coming through for the related quest or series of quests. Any players suspected of or found in violation of this policy, will be removed from the area by CSR Staff.

9) Role Playing or Testing does not grant license to violate these rules.

Though Star Wars Galaxies™ is a roleplaying game set in the Star Wars Universe, the claim of “roleplay” or “testing” will not be accepted in defense of any of the anti-social behaviors mentioned above. As an example, you are in no case (PvP or otherwise) allowed to “train” a guard onto an enemy in protection of your homeland.
By all means, we want to encourage you to play your role, we just cannot allow that roleplay to be done at another player’s expense.
